It’s been five years since Virgil Abloh and Nike’s Off-White™ released “The Ten” – a collection that sent the sports shoe industry and its many followers into a frenzy as they hunted and hoped for be their favorite couple. Now, the collection is being presented as a whole at Sotheby’s upcoming auction entitled “The Modern Collection”, featuring a range of contemporary collaborations alongside classic sports pieces. The “The Ten” collection not only offers a very rare selection of ten pairs of shoes, what it offers is perhaps one of the very few complete collections in Virgil Abloh’s first collaboration with Nike. As a result, the shoes on offer include all of the originals – arguably Abloh’s best – featuring the Air Jordan 1, Air Max 90, Air Presto, Air VaporMax, Blazer Mid, Converse Chuck Tayler, Zoom Fly SP , Air Force 1 Low, React HyperDunk and Air Max 97.
Finally, all of these sneakers range from US 10.5 to US 11.5 depending on how they fit, and to make this collection even more impressive, socks. All shoes provided are deadstock.
Sotheby’s estimates the collection will sell for between $30,000 and $40,000, which can be viewed as low because the “Chicago” AJ1 version is out of stock and can sell for up to $7,500.
